Jean Kennedy Smith was the US Ambassador
to Ireland during the Clinton Administration,
continuing a legacy of diplomacy
begun by her father, who was Ambassador
to the Court of St. James's during

in the peace process in Northern
Ireland that resulted in the historic
Easter Agreement. She served as Ambassador
for nearly five years before returning
the United States. Over
her lifetime, Ambassador Kennedy

resources to mentally and physically
challenged children. In 1974 she
founded Very Special Arts, a nonprofit
organization which promotes the artistic
talents of mentally and physically
challenged children. She also sits
on the board of the John F. Kennedy
